So Grateful for Durango and Beyond

We are so lucky to have all things Durango, but our location also offers so many other, very different experiences from near by towns!

Last month, I surprised my mom for her birthday with a two-day Santa Fe Getaway! Though we only live five houses from each other, we are often so busy that we miss out on spending time together.

About 3.5 hours away, we are in a totally different world! I had not visited Santa Fe for several year, and I had forgotten what a truly special place it is. Of course known as an artist haven, there are so many galleries. Yes, I am a bit of a foodie and love the eclectic variety of restaurants from Southwestern, Mexican, French, and beyond. Pasqual’s and Chez Mamou both deserve notable mentions! Our two day trip could barely make a dent in what Santa Fe had to offer!

We stayed  at the historical hotel La Posada, and I have to say the service, hospitality, room comfort, and restaurant did not disappoint. They offer a spa and pool area for ultimate relaxation.

The biggest surprise of the trip was the Santa Fe Opera. My photo here cannot truly capture the mesmerizing views from our seats. The open air opera features beautiful architecture located a few miles out of town.

As I research how to attend this event, I was told that “tail gating” was the popular way to enjoy a meal and libations prior to the event. Naturally, we hit Whole Foods to collect cheese, crackers, and the most decadent chocolate cake. The day was a lovely, warm summer day – perfect for our “gourmet” picnic! However, the opera would not be complete without some drama.

The sky opened up with rain, thunder, and lighting! My mom and I made the best of it with our snacks and champagne in the back seat of my car. When the sky cleared, it was time for the opera! Madam Butterfly was amazing, and the production is one I will never forget!

Little trips and adventures like these remind me of how blessed we are by, not only Durango, but our surrounding four corners area and beyond! We live in such a beautiful little pocket of the world, and I’m grateful to live and sell real estate here!
