A Market with Many Vacation Rentals

In Durango, all locals and part time residents are very familiar with the ebb and flow of tourism, the best spots to hit during each season, and what local events there are to love. We may not realize though that all those tourists don’t just stay in hotels or short-term rentals for longer stays. Right now, we see many hotel renovations and new constructions, but we also have a huge variety of night-by-night accommodations by individual home owners in Durango.

When we talk about renting condos, homes, or rooms, most people immediately think of Airbnb, VRBO, and HomeAway. These are all major companies that have curated networks of these nightly stays and help the owner publicize and manage bookings for a kickback. Not all of these sites operate the same way nor do the pros and cons weigh similarly for every property.

There are more local services though, like Premier Vacation Rentals, that service our area with other Colorado or close by tourist attractions. These services are often more exhaustive in what they offer the owner of the property.

In Durango, nightly stays in Tamarron Condos, up at Purgatory, or even Cascade Village attract a lot of attention for their proximity to the resort and national forest. However, there are in-town rentals where visitors can stay for a night in a historic home, right on main, with a view straight to the La Platas, or so much more.

Here are some local owner-rented, nightly stays for you to check out!

I recently helped my clients purchase this investment property! If you or someone you know are looking for an amazing downtown Durango vacation home rental, my clients have furnished the home perfectly for comfort and convenience during your stay. I would highly recommend checking out this home!

Oftentimes, I encounter buyers seeking to make an investment in a vacation home. Many questions comes my way on how to off set expenses of second or vacation homes and how to block out times to use their property once the home is being scheduled regularly. There is much to discuss when it comes to using homes for nightly rentals – like restrictions and waiting lists to be eligible for downtown rentals, minimum schedule requirements for some services, and more.

Dalton Ranch and the Animas Valley area are great locations for night-by-night rentals with minimal restrictions and proximity to golf courses and Purgatory Resort. Durango’s real estate market often brings part-time residents to the area, and I am well versed in helping both buyers and sellers navigate vacation home sales. Contact me if you have any questions about your property or future investment!
