Restaurants offer a variety of patio dining and cuisine, and every year, I look forward to summer dinning!
Durango does patio dining best, and I’d love to highlight some of my summer favorites!
One of my favorite July locations is James Ranch Grill set in the stunning Animas Valley. It is a true farm to table experience! Thursday night’s Band and Burger event is such a delight, and the fresh beef and vegetables are amazing. Though I am not a meat eater, the grilled squash and onions fresh off the farm with a special sauce and fresh bread (gluten free is an option) makes an amazing “burger”! When I’m feeling a little indulgent, the inside out cheese melt made with their belford cheese slowly melted between two slices of focaccia bread as well as a cheesy crusty delight on the outside hits the spot!
Cypress Café has a wonderful atmosphere for summer and fall lunch dates. Its pleasant patio opens up to relaxing views of historic downtown lined with blooming trees. Set in an updated Victorian house with a covered patio offering evening live jazz, the Mediterranean cuisine features a true farm to table emphasis with a changing menu altered daily utilizing the local produce available.
Ken and Sue’s proves a long time staple, downtown restaurant to locals and visitors established in 1998. You really need to get reservations any time of day and year! The menu is diverse yet consistent, and the patio shimmers with enchanting, decorative lighting. They are famous for their fresh strawberry crème brule, but the baked-to-order molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream topped with toasted coconut is my all time favorite! Yes, I suppose we are back to talking about more indulging…
The best part of working in Durango will always be living in Durango. Restaurants offer a variety of patio dining and cuisine, and every year, I look forward to summer dinning!
