A Small Town with a Lot of Breweries!
Durango locals definitely love their beer, and celebrating the winter weather moving in is perfect for one of these locations! All around La Plata County, these breweries prove that microbrewing is as popular as ever, and their food menus will keep us coming back as well.
1.) Ska Brewing – As far as beer in Durango, Ska Brewing is the claim to fame of a local brewery attaining international acclaim for their brews! Located in Bodo Park, Ska has a beer bar with a walk-up order kitchen service offering pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. Plenty of locals enjoy this spot – especially when seasonal favorites are released!
2.) Steamworks – Steamworks has something for everyone up on 2nd Avenue! With a huge food menu of appetizers, salads, entrees including a Cajun broil, and full size pizzas, everyone can find something they like with their large variety in food, beer, and a full bar.
3.) Brew Pub & Kitchen – Brew is located right on College just a few paces from the intersection with Main Avenue. They’re known for artisan beer and food.
4.) Carver Brewing Company – Carver’s sits right on main as a long time micro-brewery with a great menu and full bar. Their menus serve breakfast starting at 7am through lunch and dinner with a strong southwest influence. They’re also known around town not just for their beer brewing – but their in-house root beer too.
5.) Animas Brewing Company – Animas is tucked right on the edge of downtown Durango off of East Second where the road meets the Animas River. In a rustic cabin building, this brewery focuses on Irish-style food with a minimalist brewpub menu.
6.) Bottom Shelf Brewery – Bottom Shelf Brewery is located on East Mill Street in downtown Bayfield, CO! They serve lunch and dinner off of a selection of hearty comfort foods with a full bar too.
In addition to these great breweries, locals enjoy several restaurants with extensive beer selections both local, statewide, and further like El Moro Tavern (sister restaurant to Steamworks). Going North, Silverton is home to the Golden Block Brewery and Avalanche Brewing Company. Headed west, Mancos even has its very own Fenceline Cider, where guest ciders and their own are served, and Mancos Brewing Company.
