During my 14 years in Durango, I’ve experienced an increase in demand for professionals and the opportunities awaiting them. Colorado alone is booming. Denver is noted as one of the top cities to move to in America. Outdoor activities draw people from all over, and millennials are all about lifestyle experiences. Durango offers a combination of the mountain lifestyle and job opportunity setting us apart from other mountain towns. Durango offers the Animas River right through town, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, paddle boarding, and more. Professional opportunities are on the rise in Durango too.
According to Glassdoor, in sales alone, there are an upwards of 177 jobs available in Durango area ranging from $35-100K salaries. Durango has become an up and coming place for young professionals. The Chamber of Commerce has expanded to include YPOD, Young Professionals of Durango, and Fort Lewis College attracts young adults. On the other of the spectrum, active retirees find Durango a wonderful place to settle and stay active – the perfect middle market in need of young professionals. From mechanics, to technicians, to nurses and sales representatives, the Durango community has a need. With the growing demographics of relocating baby boomers accustom to services, it seems obvious there are opportunities in this desirable mountain town. Durango should look forward to more young professionals and opportunities for them!
